Sikkim

LA Sikkim is a Himalayan craft and design brand working with indigenous materials such as nettle fibre, native sheep wool, and bamboo to create sustainable apparel, handwoven rugs, and home products. Rooted in the Indian Himalayan region, the brand collaborates closely with local artisan communities to preserve traditional craft practices while adapting them for contemporary living. LA Sikkim focuses on ethical sourcing, natural fibres, and responsible production, building long-term livelihood systems that respect ecology, culture, and place. Each product reflects material honesty, durability, and a deep connection to Himalayan landscapes and ways of life.

Co-founders

Sonam Tashi Gyaltsen is a designer and educator with decades of experience working across the Indian Himalayan region. His practice is grounded in the belief that ecology and economy must grow together, and that design should strengthen local capacities rather than replace them. Through LA Sikkim and his wider work, he continues to support community-led craft, material knowledge, and sustainable ways of living shaped by sensitivity to land, culture, and time.
